Sumalee Boxing Gym is jointly owned by Lynne Miller, Riah Miller and Oron (fighting name: Deachkalon Sumalee).

Lynne is from the UK and has a business there specialising in Research and Marketing. She speaks intermediate level Thai. Riah speaks fluent Thai and assists with interpretation on all fronts.

Oron Deachkalon Sumalee is an internationally known Muay Thai fighter who was highly ranked at Lumpinee and Ratchdermeon. He has fought internationally and has appeared on many TV channels in Thailand. He recently won a major tournament in the UK winning against leading UK fighters within his weight class on the way.

Oron Deachkalon Sumalee is still very much an active fighter and particularly likes to appear on the same fight card as his students. Oron has earned a considerable amount of respect within the Muay Thai arena because he is still able to fight at a reasonably high level at the age of 32. He has hundreds of fights and wins to his credit and is a born entertainer as well as a fighter.

About Us
Last updated: 14th Mar 2013

http://www.sumaleeboxinggym.com/our-concept/

Sumalee Boxing Gym is Phuket's newest Muay Thai training facility located in the middle of the island on the east coast. The standard of training, service and facilities at the camp is second to none. It is the only traditional Muay Thai training facility on the island that has it's own swimming pool. We have recently opened an air conditioned studio and weight training area at the camp. Although the camp only opened in December 2011, it has quickly become known as one of the leading Muay Thai training facilities in Phuket, Thailand. All of the Muay Thai training and fighting is under the supervision of Head Trainer Oron (fighting name Deachkalon Sumalee) who at his peak was highly ranked at both Lumpinee and Ratcherdermon. Our trainers complement one another in terms of their training skills so that we are able to cater for the complete beginner up to the advanced fighter. What sets us apart from many other camps is the way the camp is managed. At Sumalee Boxing Gym communication is never an issue because the core management team are fluent in Thai and English. The needs of the customer always come first and we continually look for innovative ways of ensuring that students get the most out of their Muay Thai training experience. We are the first camp in Phuket to offer an ongoing assessment package so that non fighters as well as fighters are able to monitor their progress and the impact of their training on body conditioning and performance. Sumalee Boxing Gym offers a safe environment to train in where males and females are treated with equal priority away from distractions.

Training Routine
Last updated: 27th Apr 2012

http://www.sumaleeboxinggym.com/daily-programme/

The only thing that is routine about our training is that it takes place at the same time every day! Morning group training session starts at 7.30 and afternoon session starts at 4 pm.

Those who want to run prior to group training sessions are particularly well catered for at this gym. There are so many routes locally that take the runner well off the beaten track along coastal, hill and country routes where little road traffic is encountered. Sumalee Boxing Gym is one of the few gyms in Phuket that is able to offer this.

The group training session contains the usual mix of warm up, stretching, shadow boxing, one to one to one pad work with a trainer and working the bags, ending with cool down and stretching.

The difference at Sumalee Boxing Gym is that the sessions are constantly reviewed and changed to provide variety. The Head Trainer, Oron, is always looking for new ways of making the training intense but enjoyable. Oron is still an active fighter and he particularly enjoys partnering his students in pre-fight training/preparation and appearing on the same fight card.

One of the nicest things about training at Sumalee Boxing Gym is jumping in the on-site swimming pool afterwards. In the mornings you can round this off with the excellent breakfast which is included in the price of accommodation. We are quickly becoming as well known for our porridge as we are for our training. In the evenings watching a beautiful Phuket sunset from the pool terrace is a must.

Accommodation
Last updated: 16th Dec 2012

http://www.sumaleeboxinggym.com/accommodation/

The standard of accommodation at Sumalee Boxing Gym sets it apart from other Muay Thai training camps in Phuket. In building the camp we ensured that as much of the natural environment as possible was retained. The camp is very spacious and sits in a large banana and coconut plantation. The rooms are of a superior standard and are set well away from the gym and social area. Furniture in the room is custom built and each room has an en-suite with hot shower, tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV, DVD player and air conditioning. The rooms are serviced daily. Bed linen and towels are changed regularly. We have a mixture of superior kingsize and twin shared rooms on site. We also have accommodation set aside specifically for a family with an inter connecting door between a twin shared and superior kingsize room.

All of the rooms have their own terrace to the front and immediate access to the swimming pool. They all have views over beautiful natural Thai countryside.

We recently added to guesthouses to our range of accommodation. These are four bedroomed townhouses located 2/3 kms from the gym and will appeal to people who either want a little more indpendence or a cheaper option.
