Injury - Bone Bruise On Shin

Has anyone ever bruised their shin bone? I fell on some stairs (while drunk) about 3 weeks ago just before I came to Thai land. I could hardly walk for the first few days. The bruise itself is only just coming up in colour now but my shin is swollen and rock hard to touch. Also painful to just touch slightly.

Now I am in Chiang Mai training. I can't kick a bag with this leg as it's just too sore. I have been kicking pads but it's still painful and I know this won't be helping.

Do you know if I should see a doctor here Incase they have anything to help it?
I've read it can take months to heal and this is gonna affect all my training here in Thai land.
Just my luck. Any advice welcome :)

I would very much doubt it will take 'months' to heal.....

I would show it to a trainer or a massage place, they will know how to treat it.....

definitely wouldn't be blasting a heavy bag with it while it's bad....

Vlad
wearing shin guard helps

is the anoos bruised to ?

bumwau
yeah shin guards.. but sometimes its better to rest then force it. I couldnt kick hard for weeks so I just started to train left kicks and southpaw for a few weeks.

if it turns out to be a haemotoma under the bone there ain't FA that can be done for it. Take it easy until the pain subsides and appreciate the sweet sweet lump you'll have the rest of your life :D

I think that's what it is. Only me would do such a thing 3 days before I come to Thai land to train. Ill see what my trainer has to say.
And now today I am unwell. Sweats all night. Got cold like symptoms and feel sick can't eat. Plus I feel like I've been hit by a bus. No luck. Missed morning training can't see me feeling better in 3 hours time for next class either. :(

If you still feel super sick (like how you sound) tomorrow, just buy some Amoxicillin and go on a short 2 day course (500mg twice a day)

I reckon the best thing you can do for your shin is just to keep the fluids in that area moving, so that the body can deliver fresh blood and fresh lymphatic fluid on a regular basis - you don't want fluids to stagnate for too long. I reckon the best way to do this is to just massage yourself for a couple minutes every couple of days, but not everyday because you want to let the lymphatic fluid stay there for some time so that it can do it's job.

I personally would still use that leg to kick, but just kick the pads with your foot, so you won't lose muscle memory.

Hope all goes well.

i once fell with my shin on a 0,5 cm thick bar in the slow boat to luang Prabang. the wound healed nicely until one month later when at Halong bay people told me to put a bandage on it. due to doing it over heated and the wound opened. This resulted in an infection and when I went to the hospital the nurse who was taking care of me almost threw up :-). Now I have a small crater in my shin....

Thailand, not "Thai land"

:/ 5)-5/ messed up.
I know it's Thai land my auto correct changes it to Thai land every time and I don't know why.

Still mistakes like that can get you banned :-)

Yo, how's your shin? Are you fighting while your in Thailand?
I had a fight 2 weeks ago. Shin where my haematoma is (main leg) blew up in the 1st round, from checking and being checked, getting worse through another 2 rounds. Avoided using it as much as I could the last 2 rounds despite trying to go yolo.
The swellage has pretty much gone but still tender. Would be training with a shin pad if I was still training

Hey, it's still a to k solid lump on my leg but it's not as sore at all I can kick pads with it fine still a bit sore on bags.
Sounds painful! Maybe another 2 weeks it'll have healed. I'm not fighting yet. I might take fight in a couple of months when I'm back in Chiang mai. Where are you training?
I'm heading down to sumalee in Phuket in a weeks time.
