First Time To Camp

Im planning my first training trip to Phuket next March/April and was wondering if most people travel solo or organize people to go with? Im reasonably new to Muay Thai and Ive only got 3 weeks off work, and was hoping to find someone who might be keen on joining me. (plus it makes the accommodation cheaper if I share a room)
Looking at probably Dragon Muay Thai from 14th March through 4th April.

Also, rather than use the sweaty gym gear, I am planning on using my own but would like to know if its best to just buy new stuff there as its cheap or bring my own stuff from home? (Gloves, shinguards, jock/steel cup, mouthguard, wraps etc)

Solo is fine. You make new friends at the gym. I did that.

People say to buy gear there. I have my own gear so just used my own gear and it was also a good opportunity to use Thai land sun to clean my own gloves. The only reasons you would buy gear is either you have gear acquisition syndrome or your geuninely find the gear is superior to your own.

Phuket prices are the same vs online for me and I'm also from Aus :)

You'll do fine taveling solo. You will make friends at your gym. Purchase gear in Thailand if you need new gear. Otherwise bring your own!

Good luck!

Ive always gone alone and was a bit nervous first time. Now I wouldnt go any other way (pair or group)

You decide what to do every day according to your needs and always meet nice people (also cunts).

No worries.

Buy your gear in Bangkok if possible. Its cheaper than Phuket.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys, Looks like solo wont be so bad..
Im also looking at possibly mixing up my training and trying out some mma maybe? Whats the best gyms for beginners mma (no experience in it)
Also does anyone know of any gyms in Phuket that do Krav Maga? I heard maybe Lion, but they haven't responded to my emails.

bumwau
Maybe try and do mma back home before you go and see if you like it (if you can/want) since the purpose of going to Thai land is usually for legit muay Thai .

You're going to Phuket, it's a Western theme park rather than a Thai town. You'll be fine there on your own as plenty of Muay Thai posers will be there pretending to train between beach and drinking sessions.

minr
Agree with Tom S, on my street in Phuket when I went the people in the opposite hotel would smoke and drink all night, got no idea why they chose soi taied and no idea why they came posing as Muay Thai warriors either.

As someone said above get your gear in Bangkok it is 5-700 Baht cheaper in Action Zone BKK than anywhere in Phuket!

I am going Phuket April 30 so I guess our paths won't cross lol

Mma - do Phuket Top Team they got good coaches, fighters and sessions all over, so maybe you can do your whole package there? and mix a few sessions at Dragon?
