Hi, I'm Brave Dave and this is MuayThaiLand.com, a website all about going to Thailand to do Muay Thai.
This site's main purpose is to provide information about all of the many Thai boxing camps over in Thailand at which foreigners can train as well as act as a central community for anyone with any interest in Muay Thai and training in Thailand.
I first went to Thailand in 2001, in my gap year before university when I was 19. I had such a great time at the Lanna Muay Thai boxing camp that when I got home I wrote a basic page of information about what it's like to train and live out there and added a load of photos.
Due to there being a real lack of online information about training in Thailand my site was noticed really quickly. Thanks to Google and word of mouth my Lanna page started getting more and more hits and I began receiving feedback from all sorts of people saying how much they appreciated my information as they had always wanted to do the same but weren't sure where to begin. I installed forums onto my site and a modest community began to grow from it. When I went back to Lanna in 2003 I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were many people training there who had only gone because of my site. This was a sure sign of the site's influence and I wanted to develop it.
When I got home I bought the domain MuayThaiLand.com and as well as practicing various web designs on the layout I started adding material to it too. I got people I knew online to write about their experiences over in Thailand and stuck it all on the site.
It was then that I thought about really going for it and setting MuayThaiLand up to be able to release its full potential. At the time the site was basically just about my experiences at one camp in Thailand. I wanted to create an entire community in which members would produce and share their own content and experiences meaning that the information provided on the site would be potentially limitless.
MuayThaiLand is now capable of providing large, powerful, personal accounts for everyone and anyone who wants one. The hope is that the more people who join, the more fresh content that's produced, the more people it will attract and so on and so on. Hopefully this snowball effect will lead to all sorts of fantastic ideas, developments and opportunities. We will have to wait and see. For now, you can do your bit and make sure that you register yourself an MTL account today and then get busy making the most of all the functions we've built for you.
Whether you're a champion fighter, a complete beginner or just someone curious about life over in the Far East, I am sure that you will find MuayThaiLand helpful, useful, entertaining and interesting. Remember, this place is growing and changing all the time so if you have any suggestions then get in contact and we'll see what we can do.
Thanks for your time and enjoy the site!
Brave Dave
